UN AMBASSADOR TO GHANA FIRÈS GOVERNMENT OVER LITHIUM DEAL: THE DEAL MAKES NO SENSE – SUSPEND IT

The United Nations Peace Ambassador to Ghana, Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, has fired government over the poor lithium deal.

According to him, it makes no capital sense for government to engage in a deal that strangely favours the Australia company instead of Ghanaians.

Speaking to NewGhanaOnline in an interview, Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, expressed his shock at the Lithium deal.

“I was crying when I read about the lithium deal because it does not favor the Ghanaian taxpayer and it’s quite sad and unfortunate. Our leaders are not generational thinkers, who are keenly interested in their personal interests, compared to Ghana’s interest”, he stated.

He added that, “Why does the government engage itself in such a bogus deal by giving out a whopping ninety percent of the lithium deposit in the Central Region to the foreign company when Ghana can actually have the upper hand in the deal. It must quickly be suspended otherwise Ghana is finished because lithium is the new gold that ought to benefit Ghanaians greatly”

Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu therefore called on government to establish the Ghana Lithium Company by forming a partnership with  successful Ghanaian businessmen to ensure that the mineral deposit becomes beneficial  especially to the ordinary Ghanaian.
