NPP Majority in Parliament wârns Dr. Bawumia : Don’t dare remove Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu. Don’t try it.

The Majority NPP in  Parliament led by the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joe Osei Owusu has warned the Vice President and NPP Leadership not to make any uncivilized move tp remove Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu – Majority Leader in Parliament.

Surrounded by some MPs I in Parliament while addressing the media, Hon. Joe Osei Owusu threw a caution at some powerful elements outside the confines of Parliament to stay out of any move to change the Majority Leader.

He said, “We invited you here because of a publication that has gone haywirekjn respect to the Majority Caucus. We here to inform you that the publication going round is not true that the majority caucus  have not made any changes in its leadership. The caucus has not contemplated making any changes to its leadership and we are asking the public to ignore such publication”.

“We want to assure you that we have confidence in the majority leadership as they are and the status quo shall remain. We are aware that upon the nomination of one of the deputy whips as a minister, a replacement would be made. That replacement would be made by the caucus when we have had the opportunity and time to consider the appropriate replacement. The leadership of the majority caucus has not changed, have not contemplated any change and we do not have any intention to effect any changes”, Deputy Majority Leader emphasized.

Hon. Joe Osei Owusu further advised external forces within the ruling NPP tobecareful,adding that,” The party or anyone outside Parliament has the power or right to regulate Parliament or how things are properly done here. The Parliament of Ghana has adopted standing orders which place selection or changesin leadership in in the hands of the caucus and not anybody outside Parliament”.

It would be recalled that there was a publication which circulated in the media that there have been some changes in the leadership of  the Majority Caucus.

In the said publication, the current Majority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu had been removed and replaced by Hon. Afenyo Markings as the new Majority Leader with Hon. Annor Dompreh being appointed as the deputy majority leader.

The leadership of the New Patriotic Patriotic Party is yet to respond to this press conference organized today by Hon. Joe Osei Owusu.
